Doctor GaNe Boothroyd graduated from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She continued her education at the Illinois College of Optometry, earning her Bachelor of Science in Visual Science in 1998 and her Doctorate of Optometry in 2000. A year later, she received her certification after a residency program through the Veterans Affairs of Chicago health care system, specialising in ocular disease and blind rehabilitation.

A married mother of two and a music aficionado, she is devoted to her daughters and enjoys volunteering with the Girl Scouts of America.
