Better Compliance=Better Comfort & Vision

Our mission is to fit patients in contact lenses that are appropriate for their lifestyle and yield their best vision.  Patients often report decreased comfort and vision by the end of the day.  It is very important that patients reveal their average daily wear time of contact lenses, replacement schedule, and any solutions or drops that they use.  Compliance is key to determining if a particular brand of contact lens will be suitable for a patients needs.

Replacement schedule:  Typically, contact lenses are designed and manufactured to be replaced monthly, every 2 weeks, or daily.  It is important that patients follow the recommended replacement frequency as set by their eye doctor.  Proteins, lipids, and other substances that are found naturally in the tears build up on the contact lens surface over time.  This can cause contact lenses to become uncomfortable and make the eyes prone to infection.

Contact lens care:  Eye doctors specifically choose contact lens care systems/solutions that are compatible to the contact lens material the patient is wearing.  Generic solutions typically are older systems that are compatible with older contact lens materials.

Follow these steps for proper contact lens care:

  1. Always wash and dry your hands thoroughly before handling your contact lenses.
  2. Always work with the same lens first.
  3. Remove the lens and place in the palm of your hand.
  4. Apply contact lens solution or lens cleaner and rub the lens for 30 seconds.
  5. Rinse the contact lens with contact lens solution. Never use tap water.
  6. Place the contact lens into a clean lens case and completely fill the well of the case with multipurpose solution.
  7. Soak the lens according to the manufacturers recommended soaking time. This time will vary with depending on the brand of solution.
  8. Read the solution packaging thoroughly for instructions about lens cleaning and always follow the manufacturer recommended procedure.

To increase your chances of better comfort and vision in contact lenses, follow all replacement schedules and contact lens care as recommended by your eye doctor.
